Jan 10 to 14 – STMA Annual Conference in Long Beach, CA. STMA will be headed to Daytona Beach for its 2013 Annual Conference and Exhibition, Jan. 15-19, 2013.

2011 MOKAN Schedule of Events January 11 - 15, 2011 -- Sport Turf Managers Association national conference - Austin Convention Center, Austin Texas February 23, 2011- Managers breakfast meeting- Demystifying the CSFM process at Firstwatch on Shawnee Mission parkway Host: Dave Stokka March 16, 2011- Equipment maintenance, Tree care & Landscape maintenance at K-State Research farm in Olathe KS Host: Dr. Rodney St. John/ K-State April 13, 2011- Irrigation repair basics, Irrigation controller programming, Water budgeting & Drainage basics at Legacy Park in Lee’s Summit MO. Host: Devin Wetzel. He is in charge of the 500+ acres that host softball, baseball, football, soccer community events and much more. The agenda for the day is below don’t miss the irrigation training or the opportunity to ask the designer of Legacy Park, Vance Rzepka, any questions you may have. Registration- 7:30am to 8:00am Introductions(Dave Stokka)- 8:00am to 8:15am Irrigation Repair & Controller programming(Ed Stegall)- 8:15am to 9:15am Legacy Park Design(Vance Rzepka)- 9:30am to 10:30am Tour of Legacy Park(Devin Wetzel)- 10:30am to 12:00am or so Lunch- 12:00pm May 5, 2011- Baseball & Softball field maintenance, Infield skin maintenance & Usage control (50 Cal. Nest) Royal game after meeting (1:10pm start). Meeting will begin promptly at 8:AM to have a quality meeting then get to the Royals Game for the 1:10 start. Fountain Bluffs Sports Complex is hosting our May meeting. We will be touring the multi-use (football,soccer,baseball & softball). Chris Carnes be our host and will take us thru the unique features of his complex. Fountain Bluffs is located on Old 210 highway just west of 291 south of Liberty. June 29, 2011- possible golf outing July 20, 2011- Field painting (both natural & Synthetic turf) tips, Short cuts & new equipment for painting. Tour Pioneer Stadium Leavenworth September 14, 2011- Sprayer calibration & basics, Spreader calibration & basics, Chemical & Fertilizer selection December 5 - 7, 2011 – KTF conference December 13 & 14, 2011 – Common Ground turf conference December 16, 2011- Turf & Grounds Maintenance Education Seminar in Lees Summit, MO. Joint event with Missouri Park & Rec Association. Click Here for More Information. 2010 MOKAN Schedule of Events Jan 12-16, 2010 STMA National Conference & Exhibition at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort & Convention Center in Orlando, FL. March 17, 2010 at the KSU research farm in west Olathe from 8am – 12 pm. We have some excellent speakers. Matt Evans of Ryan Lawn & Tree to speak on tree & plant care. Jason Dremsa from Applied Ecological services to speak on Storm water retention ponds Maintenance. Vance Rzepka of VSR Design will talk about landscape design around stadiums & sports complexes. Last but not least Dr. Rodney St. John from K-State Research farm will speak on what is new & what is going on at the farm. 7:30 – 8:00 Registration 8:00 – 12:00 Speakers 12:00 - ??? Networking Lunch June 23, 2010 -- Heritage Park Sports Field We are planning to mix business with pleasure. The business will consist of a review of the complex and a discussion of current issues in our industry, a P.A.L. update and an equipment rodeo to determine the best operator in the MoKan membership. September 8, 2010 -- St. joseph MO Field tours The MoKan STMA will be touring…. ……The indoor / outdoor football training facility at Missouri Western University, and their relationship with the KC Chiefs ……Historic Phil Welch baseball park, home of the St. Joe Mustang’s, that was renovated last year. ….. Heritage Park the city softball complex that hosts city league, ASA events and college games. 8:00 – 8:30 am Registration 8:00 – 9:00 am MoWest Football facilities 9:00 – 10:30 am Phil Welch baseball park 10:30 – Lunch Heritage park softball park
As you can see there is something
for every one. This is a great opportunity to see some great
facilities and bring a friend.
There is no cost
for current members, $25 for new members (we still have 3
meetings left) or $10 for a single event.
November 17, 2010 -- Tour on Wheels - November brings cooler temperatures and the Tour on Wheels which falls in the Sunflower state. The sites are Overland Park Soccer Complex and the new Blue Valley Southwest High School. STMA is awarding 0.3 CEUs for this event.December 14 & 15, 2010-- Common Ground turf conference & Kansas turf Conference - To be held at the Overland Park Convention Center.2009 MOKAN Schedule of Events March - Irrigation Workshop. Topics will include everything from installation of a new system to troubleshooting an existing system. Detailed information on this event will be coming soon. April 8 - Going Green. Lenexa, KS Conference Center, starts at 8am. MO-KAN members will have the opportunity to learn water quality best management practices from experts. Topics include water quality issues, irrigation, controlling runoff, and treatment. We will view activities at Lake Lenexa. Optional tour to Black Hook Park will also take place. June covers Synthetic Turf Issues. Many synthetic fields have been in use for several year and maintenance issues are arising. This event will focus on repair and maintenance of synthetic fields. August 12 - Golf outing at Shoal Creek Golf Course (8905 Shoal Creek Parkway Kansas City, MO 64157). Tournament proceeds to support the Police Athletic League.
Cost is $72 per player includes prizes.
November 12 PAL Field Day. Service project and infield workshop at the Kansas City Police Athletic League field (1801 White, Kansas City, MO). Join your colleagues in our efforts to help a worthy cause. December 15 & 16 - 5th Annual Heartland Green Industry Expo at the Overland Park Convention Center.
